Hi there,
18M undergone braces + retainer treatment already but due to my severe skeletal underbite you can see from the xray that my upper teeth are at an extreme angle to make it seem normal. Upper jaw soft tissue masks the severity of the underbite outside of xray, but face angles are still flat or unideal, especially the side profile and nose angles.
I've only gone through consultations with my orthodontist and have not yet reached a consultation with an orthognathic surgeon but my orthodontist is saying the treatment is possible via only lower jaw surgery. I'm guessing they are completely wrong and I would lose all forward growth if this was pursued. I'm guessing double jaw surgery would be the method.
Do you think the surgeons would also be willing to or would seek to pursue widening of the palate, if required of if requested? Jaw width is actually not bad but due to excessive chin to philtrum ratio my face looks slightly elongated and makes it look not as wide as it actually is.
Any and all feedback appreciated, many thanks.
P.S. if anyone is wondering this is the last thing I need for my ascension. Considering canthoplasty/other eye surgery, or nosejob if upper jaw positioning botches it, but am otherwise softmaxxed (i can get w/ a MTB+ at any college party any night of a weekend).
