ive been doing chinups for way longer than ive hit my back (2 weeks) and ive seen more lat growth from the gym than chinups. my biceps were stronger than my back so i guess thats why my back didnt grow from chinups, but my biceps didnt either. honestly, only my forearms burned from chinups
