yo guys has anyone here that has aspergers or just autism ever just stopped masking ? what are your experiences with it and would you recommend it ?

- the moment i stopped using how "autistic" i was as a gauge for things, thats when my life improved drastically. The onus is upon yourself to function to a capacity that doesnt impeded on others

- i think by simply reducing it to "am i actively masking" undermines the point of trying to counteract things your find particularly more difficult - contrasted to other peoples anecdotal experiences.

- i think changing the mindset of it being something that limits your agency will in-turn improve your own agency - relying less on validation seeking seen here.

- its a problem i have, im not proud of it - and it shouldnt provide a source of attention.

the thing is im deeply aware of the situation and never ever take it as a justification, but sometimes i just feel like i am making an effort at being polite and considering that others do not, which just leads to burnout, i was wondering if anyone just freeballed it and what happened
