There’s no way people are going to stay married to one person for 40-60 years in this day and age, let alone in the future.

Alright where do I begin haha. You came up with a high effort response while I was just projecting mostly in my original post. But for the sake of a conversation.. the way I see it this forum leans conservative, so I am going to stand on my opinion there. I agree on the general trend of falling marriage rates. However, even in that case, my point still stands if you replace marriage with serious commitment i.e. a series of LTRs will be more of a norm than the lifelong monogamy (finding the one)?I'm not sure. Divorce rates are high, but a lot of young people aren't getting married in general. It's because people view marriage as the peak of adulthood instead of something to build a foundation off of (as it used to be seen). You only get married when you already have your life settled, and so on. We see the same thing with child birth rates.
I just think people are just going to avoid being married altogether in the future, instead of getting married and divorced several times. Marriage is seen as "just" a legal arrangement anyways, and I imagine a lot of Gen Z are just going to commit without marriage. The only people I see getting married and divorced several times are those in poverty or those who serve.

Understandable. I do agree think monogamy as we currently understand it (or rather idolize it maybe?) is going to be in the minority in the future. I actually mentioned this (briefly) in another thread:Alright where do I begin haha. You came up with a high effort response while I was just projecting mostly in my original post. I do think these are the primary factors of why forever monogamy is probably not going to be sustainable for a lot of people. There's many "choices", and people are addicted to the brain chemicals that a lot of these provide.[...] The Internet (trillions of content of pretty people), dating app culture (makes people more picky because more options ), hookup culture (prioritizing sex over intimate connections), individualism culture (just do whatever you want), no commitment (refusal to get married), lack of money (not able to go on dates) and a million other reasons contribute to a shitty dating market, and it effects everyone regardless of their gender.
