ngl this is probably not a band i'd normally admit to liking but fuck it
Skillet is basically christian rock mixed with nu metal and that very specific 2000s edgy sound. heavy guitars, dramatic vocals, huge choruses and lyrics about pain, faith, loneliness and getting through shit. yeah some of it is corny as fuck but when they're good they're REALLY good.
Whispers in the Dark — probably my favorite. the guitars and chorus are fucking great and the whole song has that dark atmosphere. “you’ll never be alone” is one of those lines that just sticks with you.
Monster — i remember seeing this shit in AMVs back in the day lol. peak old youtube music. lyrics are cheesy as fuck but the chorus is way too catchy.
Hero — this one is objectively corny and some of the lyrics are hard to take seriously, but i genuinely love the song. the chorus just works.
Not Gonna Die — easily the corniest one here, but this one actually has some meaning to me. it helped me through getting bullied back in the day and years later when i was at the peak of my addiction. definitely cheesy, but i still go back to it sometimes.
can't even call these guilty pleasures anymore tbh
what's yours
