people often put their national identity in the first place although normally you need to put your individual career in the first place (like you are painter in the first place as an example), secondly your family identity comes, and then ethnical identity comes, and after all that national identity matters. it's only on the 4th level of importance

Agreed, there’s a great book about the clash of internal identities called “Les Identités meurtrières”

forgot to mention religious identities (they matter too in specific regions) and ideological and philosophical ones. they both matter more than nationality

It’s quite stupid to take pride in something you had no control over since birth, one should take pride in what they built

tbh i don't agree because if you have a talent in painting(as an example) you had no control over it since birth too.
being proud of your nation isn't bad, but usually low class people do it cuz they have no achievements on more important identities

Perhaps, but talent alone isn’t enough to prove one’s valour, you need to create something, use that talent for it to have any value

i mean, being prideful of your nation isn't low class thing, but making it an absolute is low class

yeah but anyway you are still primarily proud of your innate talent rather then its consequences

People who take Pride in their nationality have nothing else to be proud of

Sometimes you need give flavour to what ever little is left in you. Some people like nationalism and some do not.
