Ik guys do this and girls too to a degree but u form this saint image of a person on ur head and when u actually get to know them and find out this foid you’ve been putting up a pedestal for months now is actually a snarky gossiping bitch who’s only personality is laughing at other ppl it really does feel like shit 😭

tbh mine also wasn’t but she is everything I hate in a person

I thought she was a shy soft spoken girl but when she’s actually herself she’s one of those annoying hoes who sits whispering and giggling at ppl that might as well be the devil in my eyes I hate ppl who gossip like that I hate gossip in general but ppl who do it quietly while ur not sure if they’re talking about u is so annoying
 
The moment i realize i'm building a fucking cathedral in my head i back up, i can imagine some people do that and then realize they where worshipping a vending machine that spits out slop and is just terrible to be around.

when some people get that rude awakening, they see themselves as the victim; that the other person was bad, so theyre let down. i think the opposite. you are projecting a fantasy onto someone you barely know. you build a version of them in your head that they never agreed to be, and then you get mad when they turn out to be human. one's unrealistic idealization crashing into reality is not the other person's fault

it’s a mix of projection and confirmation bias. you see a few traits you like and start treating them like a moral placeholder for your own loneliness or desire. then when they dont match your invented image, the dissonance is too much to handle
