when all the retail / service, manufacturing, entry level office / clerical work, etc is automated... it's fucking over for like half the population...

would get to the point where people become so poor and wealth disparity become so large that people are homeless / starving to death, and atp history tells us every single time a civil war is imminent and a few hundred million or so will probably die.

then we restart the cycle again. but this time we'll tell ourselves it'll be different. again. that or we learn our lesson and ban "thinking machines" like in dune.
