Serious (one of the reasons) why I believe in Jesus Christ

humanity is trapped within an endless cycle of cause and effect. violence creates retaliation, vengeance and debts that are never ending. even when strong force is used against the enemy, the perpetrators are still powerless because they can't escape the consequences of their actions. power can't be just the ability to produce an effect on others, because every human being is capable of it to some degree. those who live by the sword will die by the sword, what one does to another eventually returns to oneself, directly or not. that's the history of humanity. for true power to exist, it would require transcending causation by performing an act that cannot be returned in the same kind.

this leads to two opposing personas: the tyrant and the martyr. the tyrant is cruel while temporarily avoiding the consequences, but his power ends as soon as he dies and turns into perpetual infamy. the martyr is the contrast, he gives kindness and forgiveness but receives violence in return. after his death, the martyr's influence begins and may achieve immortality.

Christ is the ultimate martyr because He forgave humanity while being innocent and was brutally killed despite His perfection. the crucifixion is the most consequential event in human history, it defeats the logic of vengeance, as an act of forgiveness coming from a being with no debt, that breaks the cycle of revenge and demonstrates a form of power greater than physical force because it transcends the retaliatory cycle of cause > effect, his act can't be returned in the same way because He has no need to be forgiven.

I believe that even if you’re not religious following in the teachings of Jesus is still beneficial. He teaches on how to be a better overall person regardless of faith.

I believe that even if you’re not religious following in the teachings of Jesus is still beneficial. He teaches on how to be a better overall person regardless of faith.

While yes this is true, a lot of his teachings include the obvious “love your neighbor” which can be put to use for all. Also when Jesus heals on the sabbath he questions the pharisses on the good doing to others, stating that there is no wrong time to help people. And yes a lot of Jesus’s parables are faith related, if a non believer read said parables the faith part wouldn’t mean as much to them as it would to me and you. I’m just saying that a non believer can still read his word and put his actions into play in their own life, and they would be able to better themselves.
