Most of your insight is often mid to bad because you’re socially stupid. A decent looking guy with bad photos or bad grooming gets inflated here because many of the raters are used to low effort presentation, so they rate decent faces in bad photos normally, but judge the same level of looks harsher when the photos look socially normal or good (a similarly decent looking guy with clear, well-taken lifestyle photos gets judged harder because there’s nothing to speculate about, so they start nitpicking small flaws)

You end up with this backwards effect where decent + bad presentation gets romanticised, while decent + good presentation gets treated like a ceiling, even though both are just decent looking guys and the one who actually looks good in real photos is usually the more accurate indicator of how he comes across
