You shouldn’t generally have a bad diet then completely resort to vitamin supplements at the end of the day to save you. No,supplements are originally designed to replace the lack of a nurtient. For example if you can’t get dairy for some reason or are simply lactose intolerant then use a calcium supplement. The supplement industry is the biggest cope from normies who are delusional in their brainwashed ideas. I personally know someone who’s diet is actually bad and regular compared to other people but at the end of the day he uses his “Vitamin D+K2” thinking it will save him. Unfortunately not only that but many others things,it’s horrible. These companies they don’t care about how you actually are they just want “sell” “sell” “sell”,they will put literal dogshit in your capsules.

Theres a huge bioavailability problem with supplements. Most of them don't have the required synergy to be actualy absorbed. Beta-carotene is more bioavailable from carrots because the food matrixes (essentially the other components of a food) help it get digested and absorbed/converted. Most nutrients are bound to other compounds (fats, fibers, phytochemicals/phytonutrients), The most popular nutrients to take (A. D. E. K) are fat soluble & need to be consumed with dietary fat to be properly absorbed, Cooking food in anything other than a plain stew will typically help bioavailability, although this also does mean that if you take vitamin supplements with the proper additional foods they can be relatively effective, but at that point theres really no reason to take a supplement when you can just eat a food its naturally bioavailable in for (usually) cheaper. Regarding calcium, you get more from eating spinach then from taking calcium supplements. Your friend probably isn't getting any value out of the supplements if he's just taking them as a standalone thing.
