Discussion Opinions on long distance jogging?

maybe just try HIIT then tbh
Only for getting better in running and for football sprints are much better I think
Yeah I do HIIT and like sprints but should I also include long distance work? Isn’t it correlated with longevity, I know correlation studies are bs but still

You can fuck up your legs in the long run

I’d do stair master or cycling instead

Every single study done on gym and its health benefits were done on people that are not optimally healthy

Pros:
• Improves heart health

• Improves endurance/stamina

• fat loss

• boosts endorphins ("runner’s high")

• leaner physique

• improved posture and muscle tone

Cons:
• joint strain

• muscle loss

• high mileage can lower testosterone or disrupt periods in women

• outdoor running can lead to early signs of aging ("runners face")

With proper preventative measures, you could avoid or lessen the cons. This exercise is eh, but i would do it only 3 times a week max along with weight lifting. Rowing machine (ergometer) MOGS

Personally, I would only do this exercise if I were training for something specific like for a sport or event. It's not the most optimal in my opinion.

you would never catch me doing any of this

I don't recommend it to a majority of people. @BlendedBlade's suggestion of cycling or StairMaster instead is pretty good.

Despite what most people will tell you, long distance jogging isn't a death sentence; just don't overdo it. I don't recommend doing it every day. If you don't have a lot of experience with jogging, then don't do long distance. It also depends on what you define as long distance and so on.

Most people's injuries from running or jogging has to do with the terrain/ground. If you have a treadmill, this is less of a concern, and only if you're doing it at a decent (not super fast) pace. Another concern is the heat and the environment, so if you have a treadmill, you would be inside, which also decreases this concern.

For long sessions of cardio i always say the ROWING MACHINE if you do it right. It works out your entire body more than the stairmaster or any other cardio machine while still being very low impact.

The thing is, most people just don't use it correctly. A popular alternative is the stairmaster or the cycling machine I guess
