Some prior notes before i start: This is my first guide, i don't actually know how to make guides, but i think OPSEC should become a more important thing in peoples minds especially with how government surveillance is increasing rapidly.
I see a lot of people mention how you can never be fully invisible from the government or corpos so whats the point in trying? Just because you can't be fully invisible doesn't mean you should just give up and hand out all your data like it's some little slut, instead, you should minimize it as much as possible. I spill a carton of milk, do i just let the milk continue spilling? no, you stop and minimize the spillage.
Mailing:
Tuta is decent, it is fully end to end encrypted, open source, with no trackers, you get 1gb free, 3 euros a month if you want more features, i will get into this later but whilst I'm here i should mention, obviously never pay with your credit or debit card. The downside to Tuta is well, at the end of the day they still have to follow German laws, If authorities request info they are obliged to give that info.
i2p + susimail is amazing, since it runs inside the i2p network it is fully decentralized, there's no logs. No central authority or government can request your data because there's nothing to request from in the first place, It's maximum privacy, the downside being it requires technical knowledge to set up and is slow.
I shouldn't have to really explain why these are bad, but if you really don't know, ask in the comments but avoid gmail, proton mail, outlook, corpo slop
Messaging services:
Telegram, data leaks so often, legit January 200 million users leaked, March, a zero day drops. Telegram is a joke and not secure, next signal and session both have identifiers, an account number, a phone number, either way these can be linked to you, they're not the best in slot. I'm fully aware Telegram is useful since a lot of people use it, I'm not saying fully avoid, just use with caution
In my opinion, simplex is best in slot, its fully open source and end to end encrypted with no identifiers, randoms cant message you unless you share an invite, and it works over tor if you set it up, however, it is based in the UK, thus it is harder to find people.
i should also mention, never be a slave to any platform, If anything comes out about simplex, ditch it, i understand its inconvenient, but if you want privacy, you got to sacrifice some convenience.
VPN: I don't think i have to say much for this to be honest, Mullvad is obviously the VPN you want to be using, proton really isn't meta, you can for sure cough up 5 bucks for a VPN subscription.
Home server [optional]: Once you switch to Mullvad you may realize that the 5 account limit does not cover all your devices.
a solution to this may be to build, or buy a home server. Personally i built mine, its not difficult to do, it can be cheap with the right planning, and It's fun.
Once you have your home server, you can have it reroute your wifi through Mullvad, that way whichever device connects to your home server is being run through Mullvad, pretty cool right?
Operating System: I apologise, I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing linux users preach linux, however, open source really is meta, having full control over your system is meta, not having boated spyware really is meta, you get my point, if you want to stick with windows you can, but at the end of the day its bloated spyware that sucks.
MY PICKS: getting kinda tired lowk so may not go into details
QubesOS allows you to fully compartmentalize your digital life. It sorts your activities out into isolated environments called qubes, pretty goated
Firstly, anyone who says not to use these as a beginner and instead you should use 'ubuntu' or 'mint' should stfu, use whatever, it may be harder to learn, but you'll eventually get it, read documentation, learn, progress, its fine. Both of these operating systems are goated and allow you to have full control over your system.
completely amnesiac, runs only though a usb, unplug the usb, instant shutdown, reroutes everything through tor, obviously tor isn't gonna make u private, most nodes are compromised by authorities anyways, but even so tails is goated nonetheless, unplug it and it goes back to your regular os as if you were never there, well, kinda, but anywho, oh yeah, u can set up a trashy cheap deadmans switch if you're gonna be seized by authorities, just use a rope, attach it to the usb and your arm, u get grabbed by the authorities, boom the usb is pulled, pretty cool. though, i doubt the average com user is doing anything illegal, u bum.

avoid kali, kalis so dumb no ones using ts jfl, ubuntu is corpo slop, got caught for selling data without consent, mint, pretty much windows at that point, super bloated
I see a lot of windows users not wanting to switch to linux because 'gaming sucks on linux' maybe back in 2015, but nowadays gaming is fine, with a few exceptions being riot slop, and epic games slop, ts lowk installs kernel level spyware onto your system anyways why would u want that, anywho gaming is fine, matter of fact i get more fps on cs than i did when i was on windows.
And obviously, its how u use your system that matters, being on linux isnt gonna make u some invis god, i see some dumbasses online think they have w opsec for using linux.
ONLINE HABITS
I'm gonna briefly speed blitz through these, but obv learn how to compartmentalise well, strip meta data if you ever send images and such, research into browser finger printing, i personally recommend mullvad browser, reduces finger printing, pretty goated. If you're on an alt, or different sites, or simply a diff persona, (for instance u may act diff on com than u do irl) make sure your typing style is completely diff, if you can easily be linked back to something else its ggs.
you should look into i2p also. bla im rather tired
Payment:
When paying for things online, specifically if you're on sketch sites on the dark web, you want to be paying with monero. It offers strong privacy features, and is untraceable, plus its decentralised and resistant to censorship, its goated.

DISCORD SUCKS SO SO BAD, I'm sure you wont stop using discord because of this, its convenient and most of you are in servers on it, however, i should atleast warn you of how bad disc is. Oct 2025 hackers stole over 70k government IDs, what happened to discord saying they don't store you're id, guysssuhhh use ur id we'll delete it once youve age verified truuuustuuhh. corpo scum. Discord is partnered with Persona, which is a company backed by Peter Thiels founder fund, Thiel co founded palantir, the fbi, and pentagon contracts, discord sucks. Also has zero click hacks, im lowk getting tired and its hot as fuck in my room ill wrap it up soon
opsec is a collection of online habits that make you more private, you don't simply do one thing and become anonymous, remember, becoming completely ghost online is basically impossible.
stay away from microsoft, degoogle, bla bla

I feel like just Discord from opsec guide isn't necessarily good, because they all use it anyways. And SimpleX is good, but messengers like Signal are fine if not ideal.
i spoke about how terrible discord is in the guide, i don't agree with using discord, Signal is okay i guess but if you have simpleX which is a better alternative sitting right there why use signal
