Discussion pale mogs tan

cope

in the old times pale was a sign of high status
paleness was a sign of status bc it meant you were chilling inside the castle instead of working outside with the peasants

however, biologically pale skin implies poor blood circulation and getting sunburnt easily (bad health indicators), meanwhile evolutionarily pale skin implies disease, because those who were ill would likely spend all their time hidden away inside leading to them having paler skin than everyone else (sickliness indicator) not to mention when lighter skinned people fall deathly ill/are close to death they become paler

tanned skin = life and prosperity in our ooga booga brains
