I recently saw a post on tiktok and it was of a woman who was saying that men tend to be in para social relationships more often than women, and of course the comments were flaming her but I decided to seriously take a look at this. I found that men tend to be para social towards women individuals who they know personally and have had a previous connect with, obviously this claim has outliers, but this is the norm. Women on the other hand are extremely para social, and towards men who are celebrities and have NO idea that said women exist. Then I tried to see if age correlated to this; in some parts it does. Teenage boys exhibit these behaviors during pubescent years, mainly hormonal, while these behaviors seem to disappear by the time they're developed. Teenage girls portray similar actions, but they last for much longer, and they portray different ones on top of that. A mans music is more likely to drive a woman to profess her love for a man than if the roles were switched, and this fact is ageless (music being a factorable asset to this argument.) A lot of men, when they exhibit para social behaviors, do it because the woman they're obsessing over is hot, and as ages change so does maturity. When women obsess over hot men its timeless, as it appears that by the time a girl is full developed, that's when their hormones peak and cause them to truly obsess over attractive individuals. In my own opinion, I see that women are more para social on such a higher average; for a more variety of reasons than men. But I have also concluded that a below average but alarmingly high percent of men would fold at the chance to get to be with a female celebrity. Making this point, I do want to clarify that women would definitely fold at much higher rates when presented this opportunity than men, but I don't want to make this post just be centered around name-calling women, so I'll give my main point to clarify: There are more para social women than men, (by a large margin at that) but saying this, women can tend to have deeper reasons to being obsessive, while typically a mans reason is just simply the fact that the one being obsessed over is attractive. Personally I think para sociality is lame as shit and if you're obsessive over someone who doesn't know you, get a grip.
