I want to relay information I've learned about personal growth in the podcasts and books I've read. I first started my personal growth journey this summer when I came across some books from a friend, and at first it was a struggle to read "Developing the Leaders Around You" by John C Maxwell, and it was really helpful in helping me find the motivation to work on becoming the best version of myself possible. What I'm gonna try to do is post about what I've learned and talk about stuff that I've worked on. I would say this is more geared to high school age kids like myself, but the themes can most definitely relate to anyone.
First Discussion: "When it comes to self-discipline, people choose one of two things: the pain of discipline which comes from sacrifice and growth, or the pain of regret which comes from the easy road and missed opportunities." - John Maxwell
I feel like this quote is very important for those who want to lead a disciplined lifestyle in some or all aspects of their life. For me, it's my workouts. I set an alarm for 6 am every morning, and then I have my usual 7 am alarm for school. I haven't gotten up at my 6 am alarm to work out since I set it a few months ago! Literally since football ended, I haven't hit the weight room, and I've been very distracted from my constant thoughts persistent in toning my body, but I've definitely been eating like crap, and that doesn't help with maintaining abs. The thing is, I would feel self-conscious walking around with a fitted shirt, or just being shirtless. I believe my body type to be mesomorph (athletic body build, don't need to work out as much, don't need to eat super well). I've definitely been taking that for granted, and now I'm in the phase of, "ok, where the heck are my abs going?" The thing is that, the longer I wait to discipline myself, the harder it will be to start, and lead to a lot of regret and missed opportunities. Feel free to comment on your personal situations with failed attempts at being disciplined, or your view of mine.
