It’s certainly not because during pregnancy, estrogen and progesterone levels rise , as does allopregnanolone, a progesterone-derived neurosteroid that regulates inhibitory GABA-A receptors in the brain. After delivery of the placenta, these hormones fall abruptly, requiring GABA-A receptors ,, in biologically susceptible individuals, this adaptation may be impaired, contributing to anxiety and depressive symptoms. Changes in the HPA stress axis, serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline signaling, immune and inflammatory activity, thyroid function, and severe postpartum sleep disruption may further affect mood regulation.
Always the husband’s fault grrr.

Post partum depression and psychosis is a result of huge hormone shifts in the body after giving birth. Especially in the labor process, certain hormones surge that cause uterine contractions (the same hormones that push blood out during the period but heavily amplified) as well as your body adapting to no longer having to nourish another living being inside you. Pregnancy and birth are an extreme toll on the body and your body has to go through massive chemical changes to counteract the VERY abnormal physiological effects.

Is supplementing in GABA and melatonin could limit the post partum depression ?

Wishing on women to have constant period that hurt as much as child birth then “muuuh why am I an incel”
I had a friend of mine think our periods only lasted one day 🥹 bless his heart

With all my male friends I try to answer questions if they ask but I'd never like force it on them or anything

The issue isn’t really about a GABA deficiency but more about an issue within the GABA-A receptor regulation
Is supplementing in GABA and melatonin could limit the post partum depression ?

I made this to kinda explain but that would be theoretically.( sorry for the shitty hand writing)

But In practice, oral GABA supplements have uncertain and probably insignificant effects on brain GABA signaling. Most ingested GABA does not appear to readily cross the hemato-cephalic barrier, but sometimes small amounts or indirect effects may occur. Some small studies report modest effects on relaxation, stress, or sleep, but the evidence is inconsistent. The studies have insufficient proof.
There are some neurosteroid treatments that have been proven to work tho. For example zuranolone directly modulates positively the GABA-A receptor which would be the best answer to a desensitized receptor rather than simply supplying more GABA.

SORRY THIS IS LONG AF!
