This isn't as profound as you think it is, the way race is thought of today is a concept in the way that it is a abstract idea (caucasian, negro, asiatic) as it ignores multiple racial groups and groups others into one race that shouldn't be (for example east africans and bantus). This doesn't discredit the idea of race it just discredits the modern concept of race, if we have a look at 2 main factors that are used when marking species we can see that race is biological and there is even a claim for there being different species of human, those 2 being genetics and phenotypic variation. There are multiple different animal species that are closer to eachother genetically then separate human groups are too eachother, phenotypically I don't think I even have to bother explaining this.
