Low effort braindump but I used to think that since human brains are wired to seek patterns, the less time/compute it took to recognize a pattern, the more aesthetic it would be deemed. Think high facial harmony and symmetry for example. Make sense from the energy conservation pov but then things like fractals also exist in nature which fucks my whole theory up.
