Although tretinoin and sometimes isotretinoin get recommended all the time on this forum for acne, anti-aging, and improving skin texture, I rarely see anyone mention adapalene. That’s surprising, considering it’s a newer retinoid and in many ways outperforms Retin-A and Accutane.

Differin, which contains adapalene, is available over the counter, unlike tretinoin or isotretinoin. It’s also much less irritating than tretinoin, which can be pretty harsh on the skin.

When it comes to reducing acne lesions, adapalene has been shown to be significantly more effective than tretinoin.

Research has also found that adapalene, retinol, and retinaldehyde work about as well as tretinoin but with less irritation.

Accutane, on the other hand, comes with a long list of possible side effects. When other retinoids can deliver similar results, it’s worth asking why anyone would take the risk unless absolutely necessary.

(Was gonna make it tomorrow, but it's short so whatever)
