Carbohydrates are simply the primary source of energy of the body, it’s the most underlooked macronutrient meanwhile protein is glazed to hard. Meanwhile on a high carb diet you get benefits such as better thyroid function, increased lipolysis, better performance and energy, fuller looking muscles (glycogen replenishment), decreased amount of total SHBG,higher IGF-1 levels, lower cortisol levels and high leptin levels. If you also believe sugar itself is the main cause of diabetes and other things that’s also complete cope, you have to look into other factors that trigger it. What you crave isn’t always bad,eat your sugar! I’m proud to say I consumed 600g of carbs yesterday with 0 bloating.

We loved it back then but now it’s demonized? I don’t think it’s a coincidence since “high protein food” is now glazed and promoted everywhere, carbohydrates were the main focus back then! And diabetes was way lower compared to now.

I think Ela’s just talking about processed sugar which is obviously bad in excess. Nobody’s out here hating on carbs from fruit or other natural foods

I agree sugar is overhated

But some people do eat too much of calories (in the form of sugar)

The point is that even refined carbs or sugars arent that bad unless they are excess

Still, put the source of food aside, sugar metabolically isn’t bad.
Metabolically sure sugar itself isn’t poison but the problem is processed sugar is super easy to overeat because it’s basically addictive and it spikes your cravings so you end up eating way more than you should which is why people see it as bad

It was also under-diagnosed back then. And cigarettes was promoted by doctors so...

Aside from that, carbs are useful but not in excess, and you need to stay away from refined sugar and gmo corn derivatives like the old fashionned glucose-fructose syrup (ew), and gluten based grains.

Honey, fruits, and gluten free whole grains derivatives will fuel you enough, and adding vitamins, minerals, and soluble fibers

This.
But generally people had lower rates of diabetes because most foods glycemic index was low, even the Coca Cola.

Do you think with the rise of artificial sweeteners, it will skyrocket the diabates cases ?

You mean like 0 calorie ones? To be honest I heard some are carcinogenic. And no matter if it’s zero sugar or whatever because once you taste something sweet your body signals insulin release. I have no clue if that will cause diabetes but it’s carcinogenic and could cause hypoglycemia

Well, I only eat what I feel like and I'm a far cry away from being overweight. Rather underweight while mostly eating candy chips and soda. If u smoke a lotta weed that shit metabolizes like crazy is my theory with no backing.

humans were never meant to eat high carb , you can make an argument during puberty but after puberty when igf production is reduced by a lot , most of the sugar is just Advanced glycation end products and thus inflamation ===> aging and illness
