Can you make the avi compatible with webp? I had a lot of good avis that I plan to use but couldn't since they are not supported. Rendering/Converting it into gifs makes the file too big to use again. Webp files can be compressed much more than gifs. And if possible, make them compatible to post as well.

Very few people here have animated avis, and I think this would allow ppl to have a more personalized and just cool avis.

sounds good, i've sometimes found that i couldnt upload some images/gifs. fortunately i remember a while ago dean added support for one of the types of images, which increased availability of usage, so i think he'll do this one as well
