I’m in Maryland US, 16m, and bimax candidate, 4 prem removed, braces done.
I got the recommendation from an orthodontist to go to a orthagnic surgeon, and I’m trying to tell them I want aesthetic benefit despite insurance covering the surgery for function for sleep apnea, and I was wondering if to some extent a bigger mm movement could be done for aesthetics but this guy telling me to just get the standard bimax for function. I will be able to afford custom djs when I’m 18 from a private clinic (35k) and certified for surgery, but I’m conflicted on if the difference between a traditional bimax (function) and custom bimax (aesthetics) is actually noticeable. I’m genuinely defeated with the flattest maxilla & mandible and I’m lost. Please if you have any good knowledge lmk, I’ve been talking to my parents about it and my doctors to no avail when I regard aesthetics even once.
