Technically America was winning the war and the reason they dropped the bomb was likely to show the Soviet Union at the time who was in charge
Tho even tho the reason America did that was definitely not Nobel, the Japanese were planning to fly over California and deploy literal bubonic plague infected bugs into the major cities
Which would’ve likely happened as they wanted to do this just one month after the bombs were dropped. The dropping of the bombs was the reason they didn’t follow through with this
I mean not that it justifies all the average ppl killed but let’s not pretend Japan wouldn’t do the same they literally wanted to let bugs loose cause they didn’t have nukes themselves
