Facing the unknown without any guarantee of reward.
Giving up a familiar identity, even when it hurts.
Losing comfort, even when that comfort is slowly killing you.

These three things haunt every attempt at change be it mental health, escapism, or drugs.

I noticed with change, the biggest step is understanding what happens next is what you become responsible for. You can't blame who you were before and bring it up like it's a coexisting parasite because that's just escaping what that change has progressed to and regresses it.
The biggest fear, i noticed with people trying to change is the internal war between who that person is and who that person fears they will become.

The hardest part is sacrificing the comfort of what is, for the uncertainty of what could fucking be. It's brutal.
