The Internet is Meant to be Mean

No the internet was made to connect people however human nature makes mean to each other trough communication so in a way yes the internet was meant to be mean just not directly

that’s my title. I don’t know if it’s good. I don’t know what else to write or how to elaborate on this though.
Nah ik what u mean people shouldn't expect the Internet to be perfect, especially when they spend their time on notoriously toxic sides of it

Isee, I thought of that as a way to counter my claim. I won’t disagree with that at all.

But when you make a way for humans to connect how do you not expect any negativity? I guess that plays into the human nature part…but what exactly is human nature?

but what exactly is human nature?
Well from a religious pov it’s sin but ik that’s not rlly relevant to this topic

Scientifically we are biologically coded to be selfish for example, when you are close to death your body shuts down your emotions and you do whatever it takes to survive. That’s why you have grown men shoving women and children in a disaster

Human nature is just personality traits that we found to be useful for survival hence why we’re so self-serving as you gain next to nothing from being kind. Evil people are the most successful people and when you take away the element of physical punishment for being mean through anonymity online, why wouldn’t people be mean? Being kind doesn’t benefit them much at all. At least that’s what I believe.

Hm, that’s interesting….Ill try to put my thoughts into carefully curated words later. 😳

I want to see it from everyone’s perspective. Maybe I am too optimistic, but I don’t think that’s the word I’m looking for. I feel as if everyone’s thoughts count..

“Evil people are the most successful”
Uhhhh no they’re not

They tend to be very stupid and impulsive

Nice perspective. Everyone’s seems to be based off negativity. Which isn’t really a bad thing. I guess it’s just real. 🤷‍♀️

That’s why the phrase “Even when no one’s looking” developed.

Tbh I’m the same way at some extent, but it’s really just because I feel good whenever I’m nice to somebody online. It all links back to what YOU get from being kind or mean as we are selfish. Optimism isn’t a bad trait at all.

I don’t feel anything when I’m kind to people. I feel the same as I usually do. I don’t often link anything back to myself unless I’m daydreaming.

Humans are so complex, I wonder what careers I can take to study the brain.

I see, maybe take up a psychology class and go from there.

I’ll have to wait till Sophomore year to see if I can change my classes. Or maybe during summer if I contact my counselor.
