Gary Ridgway, known as the "Green River Killer," convicted to murdering 49 women, though the total is believed to be higher (80-90). He primarily targeted vulnerable women, including runaways and sex workers in Washington state during the 1980s and 1990s. His victims were often left in wooded areas, particularly along the Green River in King County.
He reigned through the 80s with forensic crime being in it's earliest forms, aswell as genealogy through DNA being quite primitive for the time.
Despite being low iq (80s) he was suprisingly "smart" for doing multiple things that threw off police.
He just barely managed to escape being convicted by passing a lie detector test and literally burning his arm with battery acid to conceal the marks of struggle left by his victims
