Basically, a physicist named Murray Templeton dies and awakes as an electromagnetic nexus. He discovers he’s trapped in an eternal afterlife where he has no physical body or any external stimuli except one thing. There is a being called “The Voice” who interrogates him and tells him his purpose for the rest of eternity is to just think. The Voice culls interesting human minds into an eternal state of nothingness where they simply think for the rest of eternity in which their thoughts serve to amuse The Voice.
Eternity is just such a scary concept to me, especially with no external stimuli except for a voice. It would be even worse if there was no voice and he was just stuck in nothingness with his own thoughts though.
I was laying in bed for like 20 minutes, but I couldn’t fall asleep even with my eyes closed. I was getting pissed off I was just there looking at darkness then I thought of this short story. I started imagining (or rather monologuing) myself having to think forever in this state. Imagining myself in his place was scary as fuck and I had to open my eyes to remind myself I had a physical body. I have aphantasia so it means I can’t even create imagery in my head, making the situation worse.
Yeye I scared myself with my own bullshit it’s kinda dumb but i’d hate eternal anything its my irrational fear

Tldr: im scared of being stuck forever in an eternal nothingness with only my own thoughts
