Why the fuck would they do this, the whole purpose is to test your aptitude

I believe they did this primarily to lessen the gap between ethnic groups, but it did the opposite

knowledge doesnt equal intelligence/iq. the test is meant to measure proficiency in learned skills, not pattern recognition or abstract thinking which are more genetic than anything.
as for the ethnic stuff, i have no idea

Yeah that's what I meant

Before 1994, there were lots of analogy and pattern recognition questions, which is why the correlation to iq of sat scores was about 0.9 back then.

They changed it so it was more founded off of crystallized knowledge, and as a result the correlation dropped signficantly.

Yeah but grades are inflated, I knew idiots with 4.0 gpa and 900 sat score jfl
yeah it is why colleges rely on the SAT to see a student's true ability

The sat has a much stronger correlation to life success than your grades do

SAT is a shit exam though
beyond high 1400s it's literally just a grind to scoremax and not actually get smarter

Scoremaxxing is still important, you need over a 1500 to be a strong competitor for most top schools.

Agreed, though many schools seemed to have dropped it in the last few years.

SAT has lost its purpose. For the grinders who want 1500+, they enroll in SAT bootcamps that require thousands of dollars. Kinda puts poorer students at a disadvantage. College AOs do try to take this into account though, but it still reduces the value of the SAT as an accurate prediction of your aptitude.

That's just part of the game, it still takes a considerable level of intellect to apply what they've learned to get a very high score in real time. The average score even after an SAT bootcamp is only 100-200 points above the average score of 1050, that's still way too low to be considered a serious applicant.

Yeah the sat still has some decent correlation to iq

(Which is why if someone scores a 1300 on the 10th grade psat), they will only score like 100-200 points higher in the twelvth grade.

Nah college board has literally partnered with khan academy that has lessons to purposely study for the SAT and it’s free. It’s not a matter of money it’s just a matter of how much you want it

whaaaaaat
maybe it was just the area I went to but everyone went from like 1200-1300 to 1500+
it's not really intellect tho, especially at the higher end
I was permastuck at upper 1400s because I couldn't read properly and kept making mistakes
somehow I pulled a 730 english/800 math on the actual exam by pure chance

Good stuff though, are you a senior? I'm heading into college soon.

"strongest country of the world" and its australia or something

u dont really need to study for the sat ngl
maybe for math but even then, if u pay attention in class and watch review videos before the actual exam you are flying through it
