I agree that the dowry issue has been blown out of proportion, not to mention wedding day costs of 100K+ and so on. Still, marriage in Islam is the only legitimate way, and these things should not be a reason to forfeit it.

What males should do instead is learn how to identify women who are more likely to adapt to a traditional lifestyle. Traditional values have been dying out, and to some extent every woman will need to be adapted to married life with a traditional framework.

That said, we should also not forget that many men want traditional wives while not being traditional men themselves. That’s hypocrisy on both sides, and it creates a loop: non traditional men produce non traditional wives, who then raise non traditional men through upbringing and moral decay.
