To clarify, it's very easy to get banned. Most users end up banned.

However, it's very easy to get unbanned as well. All you do is send an email apologizing and then Dean will unban you.

Most people's bans are like for a day because of it.

You could make a criticism about how certain users should stay banned, but the ones who don't get unbanned are normally the ones who never sent an appeal, not because they're not allowed back.

So, in this instance I should've explained more in depth to him what the actual ban was issued for. That's my fault, because he obviously sent my DMs everywhere confused. I normally only briefly explain why a user is banned, because they get lost in the details when I explain in more detail. (Most users just say DNR anyways, so it's a waste of my time actually explaining it to them.)

In Blended's case, it wasn't SOLELY because he was in the call. This call contained a group of regulars who regularly participate in a culture of harassment and in this case, this is the ONLY time a user has been TRULY doxxed in a traditional sense of the word. Not sharing images, we're talking about PII. When users are being made aware a user is being actually doxxed, blackmailed, and even talk about sending stuff to their home address, and they choose not to say something, it's not a user who we want to remain in the community, especially when he's obviously involved with this specific group heavily.

Sometimes bans are issued because they benefit the community - it's not always about breaking X rule. It's not about following the rules to the letter of the word, but rather the purpose of the rules.

Blended is allowed to appeal. He was the only user I was slightly unsure about, but it was done with the community's interest at heart. This whole thing caused a lot of chaos for the forum, and we lost several moderators. It's unfortunate what happened, and the goal was to prevent future damage. Users complain about us not doing enough, so I tried to do more. If he feels like he was unfairly banned, he should appeal. I've already explained to him I had no direct issues with him as a user.

Though despite what a lot of users feel, I don't normally issue bans to be mean to them.

We still don't view that as harassment. If you reported it and a mod saw it, it means they probably sent a DM to the user asking them to stop. If they keep doing it afterwards, you'd have to report it again so moderators know to send another message.
