If you look to the research you find that many of the studies do not observe men and women equally. For example “taking frequent selfies" is considered narcissistic behavior in men. However, it doesn’t amount to female narcissistic behavior, because its “normalized".
These are the double standards that, research into narcissism by gender, deliberately strengthens to give the impression that ‘males are more narcissistic than females'. There are many more double standards like this, so much so that there exists a complete asymmetry to the factors used for predicting “male narcissism”, as compared to “female narcissism".
