The issue is with recognizing actual contributions instead of slop.

I think everyone in this thread is making a mistake by thinking contributor should be an ultra exclusive and rare thing. This site isn't org and it's wrong to compare it to orgs contributor system.

A contributor, by definition, is someone who contributes, and that can even be one good thread for all i care. It doesn't need to be something extraordinary, it should just be a means of thanking someone for making the site better.

But contributor isn't handed out by contributions, instead being given for a set number of "high effort" threads - which most of the time is slop that nobody actually reads (and 95% of the time is AI generated). This is mainly an issue because people aren't actually trying to contribute, but just putting out random threads for the badge.

Another point that is relevant to this, is that people seem to not recognize the difference between effort and value. Just because a thread took a lot of effort, doesn't mean it's valuable or contributes anything. I might make a 100000 word guide on how to make pottery out of dogshit, and not get contributor, so i don't get why it's not the same with meaningless looksmaxing threads. A thread should be seen as valuable and spark discussion instead of just being "high effort".

@Dean @Randomized An easy way to fix this would be by personally reviewing the users account, and figure out whether they actually care about the site, or just post AI slop for updoots and badges.
