You can understand the translations of anime that don’t use sophisticated language but once you start reading more complex stuff, the translations are always wrong. It’s no coincidence that some VNs, books, etc haven’t been translated for decades. It’s because they just CAN’T be translated

No. Asian languages are impossible to translate into European/English languages because of grammar differences, words, culture etc
But translating between European languages is much simpler

Hindi? Chinese?
You mean to tell me the Sima Qian is Untranslatable & We must know nothing about the Historiography of China?
Americans & Europeans just can't learn about the Warring States or anything of the sort?
Or any Vedic texts? Nothing about their empires? Nothing about their literature? You see how low IQ that sounds?
We'd still know nothing about mathematics if that we're the case.

I don't know Danish, why would it be untranslatable ? If you take Italian/Spanish/French/English they are all similar and can easily be translatable between each other. But if you try to translate any of them in Japanese translation will comes out wrong

I doubt it's as difficult to translate as Japanese, but yeah it should be harder than any of the other languages I mentioned

The main point is, you can’t say you’ve read a piece of work if you only read the translated version, at least for Japanese, because it’s a language that can’t be translated accurately. But this sentence is apparently too hard to understand for your friend

I clearly said I don’t speak the language, so I can’t really give you a solid opinion on that. All my other points still stand
