Thoughts on physics at A-Level?

Has anyone here had any equivalent schooling to an A-level?

I'm trying to decide between System Software Development, or physics.
My school can't even teach it JFL, I'd have to go to another school.
Whereas physics is very established, and will open up many more doors.

I have the grades for it, I'm sitting on an A*A in my GCSE science.
Thoughts?

An A* in GCSE Science did not prepare me from the jump in year 12 tbh but I think doing physics is a really good A-Level I wish I took it but the smartest person I know struggles with it

Northern Ireland curriculum is horrendous. It's mainly about digital infrastructure, and how systems work.

You just have to get use to the way the mark scheme works because its all applied knowledge unlike GCSE where physics isn't too hard
it does depend what you want to do in the future though, if you want to do engineering you should take it

Mhm, that's what my dad is telling me. Ultimately, I'd major in something tech related, like cybersecurity or AI development.

both good options, physics would be looked better upon for university appplications, if for no reason other than it is more well known

then yes you'd be fine, it will be hard but for most with good maths ability and high iq it is very manageable

Yeah. Optimally, it'll be: Maths, Economics, and Physics/SSD. It'll likely be Physics now.

I'm fine for maths as well. I got 398/400 on my regular maths, and I'm doing further right now.

That is very unfortunate. I know 2 people who tried to self-study it, one did AS and did very well, A or A* i believe, the other went for the full A level and came out scraping a B, however they were more than clever enough to achieve an A or A* if it was properly taught
