Adolescent love is the only thing that truly matters in this world; it is also the last pleasant thing that exists. If you missed it, you missed everything. I refuse to hear that it was an overrated experience, that it only led you to trauma and heartbreak. And if I refuse to admit that missing it is not a problem, women will do it for me: no woman wants to be a man’s first love, no woman wants to deal with an emotionally delayed partner, no woman will be flattered to be my first woman.

Many people who missed adolescent love are mediocre, but that is not the reason for our failure. Bad people—thugs, smokers—managed to get girlfriends because, unlike us, they succeeded in creating a sense of closeness with others. Your problems and difficulties resonated with no girl; no girl managed to project herself, passively or actively, into your struggles. That is the real reason why you likely failed to experience adolescent love.

You can get a girlfriend by improving yourself, but that means pretending to be someone else. Your traumas shaped the unique person you are, for better and for worse, but no woman will love you for your integrity, no woman will recognize your journey. By improving yourself just to get a girlfriend, you give up your individuality. Your girlfriend will be nothing but a stranger to you; she will not recognize your doubts or your fears.

If you still insist on believing that adolescent love is overrated, then I will tell you that life itself is overrated. For me, nothing will ever matter more than the imagined picture I have of adolescent love. Nothing in adulthood will ever offer me the perspectives that would allow me to reach and experience that feeling.

It's much easier to just accept that it's over then to do mental gymnastics to explain why your current position "isn't all that bad"
