6'2 african/indian guy would be treated better than a 5'6 white guys. There's too much stigma against white people even in white countries who never participated in imperial oppression of ethnics. Take an example of Scandinavians. I would say racism but against whites.
Maybe my thoughts will change as I keep reading. I honestly see why you say this, because I thought racism was meant to be that main structure around this book.

Well the biggest thing abt this book is how the narrator is a child and children (at the time) didn’t understand racism. So it was basically an unbiased view of racism

Because she doesn’t understand, and when you don’t understand, you don’t actually see the harm. You just know it’s harmful.
Breaking down the book with the class is great n’ all. Maybe my expectations were different than what was presented in front of me.
Ah, when I say the only book about racism I mean the only one we will be reading in my class. Haha, sorry. I’m a freshman, so maybe when I get older there will be more books!

Yes, and I really…dislike that part? I mean I agree that people are complex, but there are people whose negatives completely outweigh their positives. Eventually it’s no longer about you being a complex human because this is how you chose to behave.

Maybe. I have not finished it yet. I like how it shows the innocence of children but I’d prefer that to be a side story rather than that be the big idea.
that's true. a lot of people are just genuinely bad people and don't care enough to change. I appreciate how it wasn't just "racism bad" though, and the characters have their own backstories and personalities. I remember enjoying the class discussions when we read it in school
