I need some advice
so, as of easter i have had a case opened up due to a police report of some guy who attempted to do uh less than nice things to me on an empty train on a sunday night
(dw luckily im ok i managed to get away relatively fine and the train was just coming into the station so i was able to run off just after)
i submitted my statement and victim personal impact statement a while ago and my officer had been in contact with me relatively often until recently
how long do u guys think it would take for it to go to court or for him to be arrested ? i submitted a pic of him, they have CCTV of it all and his snap as a contact
i expected this to happen like faster but apparently they wanna take their time with this and its pissing me off

Im not a law expert but I imagine they’re trying to get as much evidence as possible on him in order to make it a lot more difficult for him to get out of it and make the conviction process a lot more straightforward

are you in america? depending on his charges and where u live a court case may not be scheduled until a really long time but he probably will still stay in custody until then

ill see if i can i did send his pics to a gc of a lot of younger girls around my age in my area so hopefully they can avoid him
cos like he came up to me asking me for help like he asked me for a phone charger so he could get home, hes a younger guy too so he seemed pretty normal at first
thats why im so worried

aw i have no clue abt the legal system there im sorry
smth sort of similar happened to me while i was in foster care but it was a huge lawsuit of an entire business rather than like prosecution of one person
i rlly hope everything works out the best for u and stay safe !

I was witness to a murder some months ago and all I did was give a statement/interview with a detective on video, after that I had a call saying I’d be contacted when the person was prosecuted/sentenced but I never was and also didn’t have to do anything else, heard about his sentencing later by looking it up after not being contacted

Not the same ovviously since I was witness not victim but I guess sometimes they don’t follow up if they don’t need to

You should be able to get info on it by giving the crime ref number

things like that have happened to me before, them taking their time is a good thing theyre trying to find as much detail in that cctv as possible, you should try reaching out to the officer on the case and check in every once in a while for update

definitely try find a ride to school or work if you dont feel safe riding the train or any other public transport or try another route that might take longer but not different from your old one to minimize the chance of seeing him
