1. this has always applied since the beginning of human civilization

2. it's actually the opposite now, in the middle ages if you were born as a nobody pleb and you weren't part of the royal family or whatever hierarchy that controlled your area you were destined to be a nobody and the same goes for the rest of your family, now with the modern world there's a chance that a complete nobody from the deep darkest slums of Mumbai can become a millionaire or celebrity with things such as the internet, so actually it is now more than ever in human history that the odds are in the average person's favor, though obviously the odds are still low but you get my point
