It reallyyyy annoys me when I see immigrants act ungrateful to be in the country they're in and also like they own the place. (I'm talking about the UK)

How are you gonna constantly bash the same people that welcomed you in here? You don't have to 100% agree with what the government does, but you should at least be proud to be a citizen of the country you're in. You immigrated for a reason- more opportunities, a better life etc yet you're gonna act like the place is dogshit. You're not entitled to this country, it isn't your country of origin.

They should acknowledge the opportunities and freedom the country offers. It's people like this that give immigrants such a bad rep. The stats don't lie either

I get where you're coming from; my original post didn't mention that immigrants don't face discrimination. I'm black ffs, I'd know all about it. And yes, historical injustices from the West have played a major role in migration patterns. You're right to say being allowed in a country doesn't mean you're fully embraced by everyone here.

My point is, however, when you move to a country, especially for safety and opportunities, there's a key difference between constructive criticism and outright disdain or entitlement. I never said they should "twerk for the government" like you said. There's an obvious boundary between fighting for justice and shitting on the place and its people with no nuance.

Every country will have its flaws, its set of bad and good people. It's a big generalisation to say "they're not accepted by the people". The difference between some public hostility and being totally rejected is night and day. You're also ignoring immigrant integration programs and multiculturalism in cities. The government provides many with legal rights, education, free healthcare. That's something they wouldn't have access to in their home countries. It isn't submission to benefit from a system like that, I'd say it's balance.

As for the historical angle you went for: yes, the West fucked around with our ancestors, which led to instability, but the people living here today, many of them who never had anything to do with colonialism, shouldn't be constantly vilified either. Imo, the goal is to build bridges, not burn them down and deepen resentment. Being entitled to a good life doesn't mean you're entitled to tear down the host's culture while benefiting from it. Two wrongs don't make a right.

And you said "just because they're not praising the country doesn't mean they don't acknowledge it's benefits". That's true, but now you're missing the point of my post. This isn't about every immigrant; it's those who bash the UK while enjoying its benefits. What I was saying was, you can be critical when needed, but be grateful for the chances you get.
