Now I’m pretty new to the fandom so I’m not familiar with all the rules and regulations of being a furry; this is just what I’ve picked up.
Credit the artist. If you re-post someone’s work then give them credit, it’s only polite.
Don’t copy a fursona. Fursona’s are usually special and mean a lot to the creator, taking their creation and color swapping is furdentity theft.
Don’t trace art. Pretending someone else’s work is your own is insulting to the creator.
Don’t be a drama lama. There’s enough grief surrounding the fandom as-is, don’t add to it.
Don’t touch a fursuiter without permission. Their range of vision is extremely narrow and they may not see you, also suits can cost thousands of dollars and you don’t want to damage it by accidentally hitting a weak spot.
If you are new to the fandom, your first fursona must be a fox or wolf; no exceptions.
Awooing is illegal, with a $350 fine.
Okay the last two points are jokes but from my experience the rest hold true, the fandom can be a very welcoming place as long as you are respectful.
8. Don’t be an ass. Furries have a reputation for being friendly and welcoming, but don’t abuse that.
9. Don’t be “That Guy”. The fandom is painted with a broad brush and the weird acts of one individual are attributed to the fandom as a whole. No it isn’t fair, but every furry represents the whole fandom and with great power comes great responsibility. Don’t be the person who goes to a funeral in a fursuit or changes your name to “OwO”
10. Shower, especially if you are a fursuiter. Yes, even if you are a skunk. Body odor is never pleasant and the confinement from a fursuit makes it worse.
