Effective March 1, 2026, users will no longer be able to request their own content be taken down.

Previously, users were able to DM staff or report their own content asking for it to be taken down, for no reason in particular other than they no longer wanted it up. Users will no longer be able to do this after March 1st.

There are some exceptions, such as:
  • The post contains sensitive, private, or identifying information belonging to you or another individual.
  • The content breaks our community guidelines/rules.
  • Site staff thought it was beneficial to the site or community to remove it.
  • Rating threads.

I wonder who voted for this

Some people want stuff deleted and go ahead to post the same stuff again and then ask for that to be deleted, and what do they do? Post the same stuff again like why waste the time to delete it then. Also as the first thread said if you posted something sensitive or something what is really worth to get deleted you can still delete it, without a limit too for example on .org it's like 5 threads ans then you can't delete anything

There was no upside to allowing users to do it, only downsides.
  • Users were using it to manipulate post/rep ratios (which is gay and lame to do),
  • users would post something that didn't get the reaction they wanted (as in they would delete threads out of embarrassment or when they didn't get a positive response),
  • users were using it as a way to bypass the "no mass deletions" rule (Dean has never allowed users to mass delete their own threads),
  • it takes context from other threads (users will make response threads to certain threads, or refer to other threads),
  • users would post cringe shit and then ask for it to be deleted just to make another cringe thread and then ask it to be taken down (abusing the point of the option),
  • very helpful or beneficial threads were removed for literally no reason,
  • it prevents users from holding each other accountable (users can delete threads related to certain situations to make it look like something did or didn't happen),
  • it could effect the site's SEO,
  • users would start drama and then request to delete them afterwards, etc.
There's a reason why 98% of forum sites on the internet do not allow users to mass delete their threads. It defeats the purpose of a forum site - forums are meant to be searchable databases of discussions. If users want to chat and delete their messages it should go to Discord or something instead.

If you see that happening then don't delete it the second time

🤯🤯🤯

then who cares its not that deep
most people here are minors heaven forbid they want stuff off their digital record its gonna be out forever
You're overreacting to nothing. Obviously moderators will delete threads that effects a user's irl life. The point of the rule isn't to make users suffer for literally no reason.

except that everything will effect a user's life irl
it's. never created problems??

Users should be responsible for what they post in general, and how has the internet been since day 1. The saying "whatever you post on the internet stays forever" is common sense.

He got banned for saying this . Holy mod abuse
He wasn't banned for anything he said in this thread lmao.

I know i'm just feeding the "hating mods" propaganda

If it's officially allowed to delete them and I tell them I don't delete it then just go to the next mod or make a scene 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Ok then tell other mods not to delete. You guys have mod chat right? Turbo Gei

Why you tell me this?

Why you tell me this?
Because it doesn't make sense to respect the request the first time. It doesn't matter if we ignore it the second time, you're still responsible for what you post online.

why are people so mad at this are they retarded?

Because there people who ask for threads to be deleted because they didn't get enough reactions/comments/reps or post questionable threads like homosexual stuff then regret it

how is that a problem

Normally Dean don't even want to delete people threads unless it break rules and/or put opsec at risk, mods was just doing it out of pity. Unfortunately rules change because people overdo it

The point of me making an announcement was to give users a deadline to go check their post histories and delete anything they wanted deleted. (March 1st).

In the past, I wouldn't of announced moderation policy changes like this, counting it doesn't effect or change anything about the user's general experience, and most users wouldn't of noticed this change. In the future we probably won't provide the change publicly anymore. (Edit: Meant to say "change" not "deadline").

If users have missed the March 1st deadline (as in they didn't notice the announcement at first), then staff will have a few days to still respect certain requests just because I posted this announcement later than I originally wanted to.
