Effective March 1, 2026, users will no longer be able to request their own content be taken down.
Previously, users were able to DM staff or report their own content asking for it to be taken down, for no reason in particular other than they no longer wanted it up. Users will no longer be able to do this after March 1st.
There are some exceptions, such as:
- The post contains sensitive, private, or identifying information belonging to you or another individual.
- The content breaks our community guidelines/rules.
- Site staff thought it was beneficial to the site or community to remove it.
- Rating threads.

Ok i understand, does this also account for posts made before march 1There was no upside to allowing users to do it, only downsides.
There's a reason why 98% of forum sites on the internet do not allow users to mass delete their threads. It defeats the purpose of a forum site - forums are meant to be searchable databases of discussions. If users want to chat and delete their messages it should go to Discord or something instead.
- Users were using it to manipulate post/rep ratios (which is gay and lame to do),
- users would post something that didn't get the reaction they wanted (as in they would delete threads out of embarrassment or when they didn't get a positive response),
- users were using it as a way to bypass the "no mass deletions" rule (Dean has never allowed users to mass delete their own threads),
- it takes context from other threads (users will make response threads to certain threads, or refer to other threads),
- users would post cringe shit and then ask for it to be deleted just to make another cringe thread and then ask it to be taken down (abusing the point of the option),
- very helpful or beneficial threads were removed for literally no reason,
- it prevents users from holding each other accountable (users can delete threads related to certain situations to make it look like something did or didn't happen),
- it could effect the site's SEO,
- users would start drama and then request to delete them afterwards, etc.

Option 1: make people write an actual reasonable reason for wanting to delete instead of "bro delete ts gng"There was no upside to allowing users to do it, only downsides.

i mean that's kinda exactly what the change is if you posted about your drug use or whatever and you don't feel comfortable anymore about it being up like in the example @yasy said we can still delete itOption 1: make people write an actual reasonable reason for wanting to delete instead of "bro delete ts gng"
Option 2: no deletes
