A lot of what we call normal is just dressed-up animal behavior. The drive for sex, attention, and approval is built into us long before we can think about it. Society gives it new names like love or ambition, but it’s still biology running the show. Most of what we call culture is just instinct with better packaging. We’re probably just animals who learned to hide our urges behind ideas.
Who’s to say other species don’t see themselves the way we do? Humans assume we’re the smartest because we built tools and language, but maybe that’s just our bias. A dolphin, a crow, or an ant could see their own way of living as the peak of intelligence. Every species might believe it’s the center of the world, just like we do.
