That's not always the case tho. People will pick on the weak in early stages. School etc. Yes after that, you can mostly rely on your words.

Kicking or pushing someone will make the other respect you in a school-bully situation. I think it's better to be "violent" in a sitaution like this, than being picked on for many months.

Worked for me at least in school once when a guy tried testing me. He kept tormenting the others who didn't stand their ground, some people just don't care what comes out of your mouth
