I am starting 0.1% adapalene because I'm too impatient to wait and get a tretinoin prescription. I'm trying to prevent purging and I'm also curious what positive and negative effects y'all have had.

You won't be able to prevent purging completely, what's your skin routine looking like?

I've been using it myself for a bit of time. There aren't really any negative effects and it won't dry your skin out too much just apply moisturiser after and you'll be fine. Don't expect any grand results as it's pretty mild in terms of retinoids. That said, I did get a decent decrease in comedones over a 3-4 month period?

I’ve been using it for the past almost 3 months and it definitely has dramatically helped me. I didn’t really have any “purging” per se but that’s probably because I only had mild acne to begin with. The retinization period can be brutal though because I did experience a lot of dry, irritated, and peeling skin but it’s definitely worth seeing it through. And it’s easier to tolerate then tretinoin

it’s cool i’ve been using it for 4 months but don’t expect crazy results cause it’s not that strong
