What should I do if I'm skinny fat with 20% body fat?

Like should I cut and become just normal skinny or should I slightly bulk and possibly get fatter?
Most cases of skinniy fats can build muscle mass while being on a small caloric deficit.

Training your muscles is mandatory during a cut because the body is gonna degrade muscles as a fuel if you didn't ingest enough calories. You need to force your body to use the fat as a fuel

Bulk to get muscle, no one wants a skinny little bitch as their boyfriend. Then cut afterwards to get lean since no one wants a fat fuck as their boyfriend. The solution button is to the right -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

hop on a keto diet

Idk how true your 20% assessment is but I would start on a small surplus or just continue eating at maintenance. In either case, you probably want a greater portion of your calories to come from animal proteins. Meat is recommended, but eggs are good and most dairy products are great if you can stomach them.

The diet specifics are not super important for muscle gain at the beginner stages, because when you're skinny there isn't much to inhibit muscle growth except undereating in some extreme cases (but those guys usually aren't skinny fat to start).

I disagree with the start with a cut assessment because 20% body fat with very little muscle is not a large amount of fat in absolute terms, (only relative) and if you try cutting too hard to start you only risk slowing your rate of progression. Early muscle gains stand to make a much greater contribution to body re-composition than fat loss unless you're really fat to start, which doesn't seem to be the case.

You also don't need to dirty bulk either, though. Again, maintaining weight and recomping or a conservative calorie surplus will work just as well at a relatively high starting bf% like yours and newbie status, and it doesn't come with extra fat you need to cut later.

Also ignore bs like special diets, gear, hgh, and peptides. Either more or less non-functional in terms of theoretical mechanisms (the first one) and/or the juice just isn't worth the squeeze (all of them).

work out and do cardio
