And what are ur target symptoms do u know? As in what causes you the most distress per day? Contamination, harm, symmetry, checking, etc?
hi me
Mild moderate or severe?

It used to be incredibly severe, to the point it took up hours of my day and ruined my whole life, I took the Y-BOCS and at one point got like a high 30 something out of 40, but I’ve been through treatment and now it’s basically in full remission to the point it’s basically gone.Mild moderate or severe?

Sorry for not responding the site wasn’t loadingIt used to be incredibly severe, to the point it took up hours of my day and ruined my whole life, I took the Y-BOCS and at one point got like a high 30 something out of 40, but I’ve been through treatment and now it’s basically in full remission to the point it’s basically gone.
I had a bunch of different types of obsessions/compulsions but in order of worst it probably was
1. Need for symmetry and “things being perfect/just right” so ordering and arranging
2. Contamination and cleaning
3. counting, checking, repeating
4. A lot of avoidance
5. and then some other minor miscellaneous experiences
In terms of treatment, I actually didn’t do much ERP and therapy never really helped me. I was hospitalized for 2 months once (both psych and med units, I also had other diagnosis and I was forced) the change in environment did help quite a bit (since I had symmetry i’d have very specific rituals like certain things in the house needing to be a certain way/place) as well as me being literally unable to do a lot of the rituals in there that I used to so in a way that was it’s own exposure. But meds was what really helped me. I actually got misdiagnosed at first and they tried to offer me multiple other ones but the ones I actually took was prozac and risperdal. I’ve been taking them for about 4 years now with prozac at around the max dose (80 mg) and risperdal 1.5 mg. The meds basically got rid of all the obsessions and anxiety completelySorry for not responding the site wasn’t loading
Did you complete ERP? If so how was the procedure? Any specific examples you remember?
And after completing therapy did they make you retake the Y-BOCS? Was your score significantly lower?
Thank you sm that’s all I neededIn terms of treatment, I actually didn’t do much ERP and therapy never really helped me. And I did retake the y-bocs eventually and it was much lower, like less than 10 after. you can ask any questions about it you want I don’t mind talking about it tbh
Tbh no I never really experienced any side effects, at first I couldn’t even really tell much of a difference at all (and going off them for a bit is what made me realize they did actually really help), the main side effect there is is sexual dysfunction/libido loss which are annoying but the rewards still outweighed the cons in taking it obviously. Maybe also that I was taking the liquid instead of capsules at first and when I took it without food it would cause like a burning sensation in my stomach but that’s very easily fixable by just eating. The risperdal was also prescribed off label to like “boost” the prozac.Thank you sm that’s all I needed
Do you notice any side effects with the medication?
