On a scientific level they do work but only for your self-perception. They only work in the context of actually physically changing you if your spiritual through universal manifestation.

They work scientifically by entering your subconscious and forming a new self perception.
Most people that post results either have done other work to the physical body alongside( this can include soft-maxxing) or straight edit themselves
