How much you are paid is mostly how much of a value you can give to a company ( we are talking about corporate jobs in this context )
So how much they can afford to pay out + how much you can negotiate with your leverage = your pay
And there are mainly 2 reasons why you can't earn a lot / have a shitty schedule with no flexibility
1) You are actually incapable of doing anything actually beneficial to the institution so you are relegated to being a literal cog in the machine ( bare minimum work, you have no skills and therefore you will also have no leverage )
Or
2) You are just a lazy bum and think you are entitled to better opportunities when there are people who are willing to manage their time and upskill way more than you do
Is there something I'm not getting or? Why complain when you are getting what you are worth? Entitlement? Bitterness?
